The Moon and the Cloud

Lovers unite no matter what

They open doors that are shut

The Moon falls in love with a cloud

They sing their love out loud

The moon uses it to surf

It is familiar turf

The cloud gives it shade

A match in heaven is made

They part with sorrow and longing

Which comes with a sense of belonging

They will be together through eternity

As love does conquer destiny……….

Abandoned

We, as humans, are materialistic

Including the Gurus who pretend to be mystic

They fly in private jets and live in splendour

But who are we to say anyone is a pretender

We calculate and desert those who are of no use to us

We do not look back after throwing our own under the bus

Parents who nurture and give the gift of existence

Are kept at an unfathomable distance

Wake up humanity and realize

Our offspring are watching with wide open eyes……

Set the Sun

It’s much more fun

To set the sun

Let you whims and fancy dictate

If you want it tilted or straight

The golden orange ball of fire

Can be placed as your lens desires!

Keeping Litchis Moist

It is the season of the fruit that bears the name given to it by India, because it grows in India and the neighbouring nations. It is by far the most delicious fruit I have tasted. ( Yeah, better than any berry). There is one problem though….one buys them from shopkeepers who sprinkle water on them to keep them moist, so that the cover or shell doesn’t turn black and brittle and lead to the desiccation of the fruit within. The way to neutralise the water used by them and enjoy the litchis is…….

Rinse the litchis in running drinkable water (reverse osmosis water works for us)

Soak a clean hand towel ( or two ) and wrap it over the litchis.

Place the wet litchis with the dripping wet towels on a fenestrated dish, with another dish below it to collect the water that flows down.

Enjoy the yummiest of fruits when you unwrap the cover and eat (devour) the litchis……

Consume on the same day for best results…

Did I mention that litchis are good for your health ? They are laden with Vitamin C and polyphenols, among other vitamins and minerals. The best litchis we have eaten ? when we stood under a tree in an orchard and selected the tree from which they were plucked for us….Garden fresh.

Goodness Grass-ious….Cannabis grows wild!!!!

Cannabis is the source of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the amount of which produced determines the ‘chemotype’ or potency of drug produced by the plant. This gives rise to the psychoactive or recreational use as it gives a ‘high’ or feeling of euphoria to the user. The plant is used for the production of hemp fiber and medicinal uses in controlled doses to cure vomiting, muscle pain, etc. Cannabis yields Marijuana, Hashish, hash oil and other psychoactive substances….

The cultivation of Cannabis is illegal in most countries, including India, but it is seen in thickly populated regions, growing wild!!!!!!

Sniffing a mate…..God ‘nose’ it’s true

Why do certain odors make us long for more, while others make us nauseous??? We use our sense of smell (one of our special senses) to sniff out a new perfume, roses, food, and…….a mate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There have been innumerable reports about sniffing out a partner and the ‘compatibility gene’. There have been smelly t-shirt parties and our pheromones have been analysed in minute detail. The reason I thought of writing this is because it’s raining outside and I went out to get drenched and opened my nostrils wide to take in as much of the smell of wet earth as I could before my lungs became water-logged 🙂

Smelly t-shirt ? yes, it is when a person wears the same t-shirt for 2-3 days, without ever taking it off. Alcohol, smoking, perfume or other odor-altering agents are not allowed during this period. The t-shirt is then put in a plastic bag, which is sniffed by the opposite sex to select a mate…………there appears to be a scientific basis for this. We have all heard of histocompatibility …the short arm of chromosome 6 determines whether you are attractive to another human being. People have been tested for mutual attractiveness. This test also tells us a bit about our origin, race and heritage.

Major histocompatibility genes (MHC) are actually used to find a perfect mate/ match!!! A match is no longer made in heaven, but in a laboratory. Welcome to the modern age of dating and mating,

Throw out the deodorants, the fancy soaps and wear sweaty t-shirts ??? One good thing that comes out of this that smoking, alcohol should not be indulged in if you want your mate to sniff you out. Pheromones are secreted by us which ‘alter’ the behaviour of other living beings towards us…yes, they are being sold as a spray-on in tiny, expensive bottles.

One day they will find a way to allow others to sniff to sniff you over the internet 🙂 Those with huge noses, stop complaining, use them well. Meanwhile, I am stepping out to smell the wet earth again, after which I will enjoy my trip to the filling station as petrol smells awesome to me……..blame it on the genes 🙂 And think again before you casually remark to someone ‘You smell so good’……………………

Little blue butterfly

You may not be the rarest or the brightest

But you are the one who spares time

To visit us and the tiny wild flowers

And the roses and sunflowers

You perch on a dried leaf

How can I not believe

That the clovers surrounding you

Would gladly share their dew

To me you are the most fetching

The others are not worth a dime

Be happy, be strong

Summer days are long

We have but one life in this paradise

On that we cannot put a price

Thank you, for being a sight for sore eyes 🙂

Lost yet found

The heady feeling of desire
Engulfs me
Melting, merging
Unspoken words
Ring loud in my ears
A thousand melodies
The promise of fulfillment
I close my eyes
I can see you better now
Does my heart see?
Do my eyes sense?
Does my hand sniff yours?
Does my nose feel your lips?
Senses sharpened yet blurred
Aware awake yet in a trance
This perfect moment
This raw emotion
Never let it end                                                                                                                                               If this is love, I would                                                                                                                                 Face a hungry lion                                                                                                                                       Swim across shark infested waters                                                                                                         For a moment in time with you

Survival

Does destiny dictate the fate of the meek

Does it hold the answers we seek

We often see the triumphs that cannot be explained

The tidal wave that breaks all restraints

The seedling which battles drought

The daylight after a black out

The abandoned child who thrives

The fatally injured who survive

The silver lining does exist

Success greets those who persist….
