Technically, a tomato is a fruit and a brinjal or eggplant or aubergine is a berry!!!! Who cares about the botanical classification as long as they provide taste and health. Tomatoes are rich in lycopene, while brinjals have phytonutrients / phenolic antioxidants/ flavonoids. Both these plants boost your health. Growing them in your own kitchen garden or flower pots is the best way to ensure that they are most beneficial, unadulterated by insecticides/ pesticides. The home grown variety is generally smaller, of varying shapes and sizes or imperfectly shaped, but much more healthy and tastier.
The orange tomatoes are the best, as the lycopene is best absorbed from them. Eat them raw after washing well, if they are home grown. Tomatoes and brinjals can be grilled, baked, fried…use your imagination, enjoy the taste…………………….
