The pink hydrangeas are also called ‘my heartbeat’ and gifted to loved ones. Less romantically, they are called ‘mopheads’ as they generally grow in a large cluster. They are ornamental, and grow in the Himalayas and other parts of Asia. The pink colour is due to the alkaline pH of the soil. The blue/ purple ones are beautiful too. In Japan and Korea, the leaves are used for making herbal tea.
