Internet Etiquette….a Son leads by example….

The internet is a valuable tool, the highway for information, an asset…………..

The downside………it replaces human contact ( some people believe it is an upside!)

  • The teen told us that all devices (our vices?) should not be used during ‘family time’.
  • While traveling, no pictures would be uploaded.
  • If we wanted to ‘share’ with the world, we would not be able to share it fully, unhampered, with each other.
  • No distractions ( hotel wi-fi would be used for only 5 minutes a day)
  • If we wanted to hug him and express our unlimited love and affection towards each other, we would not post pictures….Catch 22, if we posted pictures, we would lose the right to hug him.
  • If we wanted a birthday to be acknowledged and ‘goofy, phony, saccharine sweet posts’ on social media, we would not be told all those things in real life…….the choice between Reel Life and Real life was ours 🙂
  • When we go out for dinner, we click pictures and keep them for ourselves ( 10% can be shared, if a parent gets indigestion by keeping it all in! )
  • Grades of the child would never be made public.
  • No texting in restaurants and during a family vacation……                                                                Before you snort…look around…there are people who go to a scenic viewpoint..point, shoot, look at the cameras…check their pics……………and leave…………………..
  • PS…we are trying our best to follow our son’s example……:)
