Mawlynnong is a village in a remote area in Meghalaya, in the North-Eastern part of India. I have never seen a more beautiful, quiet and clean village than this…it won the title of the Cleanest Village in Asia in 2003 and the cleanest village in India in 2005. Regardless of any award or title or the current reigning clean village, it is a delightful place to visit….the flowery hedges and circuitous paths transport one to another world. Bamboo dustbins are used to collect waste which is converted into manure. A tiny village in a remote area has done wonders for the landscape and the environment…..and for themselves….
