Snapdragon or dog flowers

The brightly coloured, multi-hued flowers of the dog or dragon flower are so named because of the shape of the flower. It grows in a cool climate, as a stalk of flowers, and is available in many colours. The beautiful flowers last for quite a while.

These pictures are of flowers from our garden, taken yesterday. In some countries, edible oil is extracted from this plant, and the flowers and seeds are used for their anti-inflammatory properties. They seem to attract a lot of bumble bees and butterflies. The bees climb into the plant to get the nectar, and thus pollen is rubbed on their heads for pollination,  In the first two pictures, the bee can be seen on the flowers,
