Tea is an established source of amazing ingredients which energise and uplift us. Adding spice to tea makes it even more useful and tasty. The simplest spice tea for me is…..A tea with freshly minced ginger, green cardamom, fennel seeds, cloves, black pepper and tulsi/basil leaves.
Take all the whole spices…ginger, green cardamom, fennel seeds, black pepper and cloves and coarsely crush/ grind them. Add to a 50-50 mixture of boiling water and milk. Add the tulsi leaves and allow it to boil for a minute. Add the tea leaves, or a tea bag. I prefer the tea bag as I’m not a tea drinker, I’m more of a spice lover. Darjeeling tea leaves or tea bags add to the flavour and health benefits. Turn off the heat and cover for two minutes. Strain, sip, enjoy. If heaven had a drink, this would be it. The health benefits are numerous, but it’s the taste and rejuvenation that makes it so enjoyable. Do not add sugar, if you need to drink sweet tea, add honey or jaggery….can it get better???? Only if you drink it with someone you love 🙂
