The earth shook beneath us

In the middle of the night

Imagine our plight

When the tremors made our home sway

Gave us no time to pray

They seemed to reflect the earth’s rage

An attempt to take us back to the stone age

Thankfully, the powers that be decided

To let us exist… the shakes subsided

Now every moment is to be treasured, a gift

Thank you, O continental drift!
