Tulsi …..Holy basil

In most homes in India, the Tulsi plant or holy basil is grown. It is used for religious purposes, for its flavour, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and digestive benefits. Some say it has the property to wean a person off smoking. No side-effects or allergy have been reported after ingestion. The fragrance is pleasant, it is evergreen and an insect repellant…..it grows easily and is easy to maintain. 



This particular plant has been growing for years in front of my maternal Aunt’s home……
