My sister led us to Otago Peninsula, New Zealand to watch the yellow eyed penguins in their natural habitat. There are an estimated 4,000 of these penguins in the world. This penguin is native to New Zealand. We observed from afar, respecting the fact that we were supposed to keep a distance. They played, posed and stood on the rocks before disappearing from our line of sight.
